Our Story

“We are a small family owned business who have combined a love of Alpacas together with a passion for creating beautiful handmade Alpaca products.”

A lifelong dream to live on acreage and own a small hobby farm came to fruition when we moved to the Hawkesbury (NSW) in 2016.  Not long after we purchased our first 2 adorable Alpacas and cemented the foundation for our farm.  Falling in love straight away with both Alpacas it quickly become evident that having 2 was simply not enough.  Since then our herd has expanded and we have the pleasure in owning 8 today (and 1 Llama).

Originally the primary financial focus for the business was as a small company bookkeeper but with troubling times brought about by COVID-19 the shift in direction was required.  The change required was not only for financial reasons but COVID has shown us just how important it is to create a better work / life balance.  ‘A light bulb moment’ happened and the creative thinking which followed paved the way for a new direction and the “Aussie Alpaca Group” were formed.

With starting a new business, especially during these unsure times, we had plenty of concerns & doubts. These were quickly put aside with an amazing response within our wonderful community to our products & strong core values. By offering an alternate Handmade, Australian & Quality product we were quick to build up a strong customer following.

We first offered our customers Handmade Alpaca Beanies, Scarfs, Headbands & Toys (Aussie Alpaca Knits) but as customer demand grew we now offer a vast array of Alpaca & Llama Merchandise (Aussie Alpaca World).

Listening to customer feedback we soon found a gap in the market with small Alpaca herd owners with many years worth of Alpaca fleece being accumulated in the shed (ourselves included). This has created a potential avenue for us to expand our business (Aussie Alpaca Mills).

Now our primary goal is the growth of the Alpaca brand with an expansive array of Alpaca related merchandise whilst maintaining a strong emphasis on quality Yarn & Handmade products produced from 100% Australian Alpaca fleece.
